What Samosa Is

Samosa is a place to share ideas, stories, and short-form content without the constant pressure to perform for an algorithm. We're building a platform that encourages thoughtful posting, genuine connection, and communities that feel safe to participate in.

We're not trying to be everything for everyone. Samosa is for people who want conversation over chaos—and for creators and community leaders who want a space where standards are clear, enforcement is consistent, and trust matters.

Why We Built It

Social media has become noisy. Engagement is often driven by outrage, dunking, and dopamine loops that reward the loudest voices. In that environment, good people disengage, communities fragment, and the content that rises isn't always the content that helps.

Samosa started as a simple question: what would a modern social platform look like if it prioritized quality over quantity, human dignity over pile-ons, and trust over growth-at-any-cost? This is our attempt to answer that—with a product that feels calm, useful, and worth returning to.

How We're Different

  • Standards-first, not vibes-first. We publish Community Standards and enforce them. We don't rely on ambiguity or "anything goes" norms.
  • Healthy conversation by design. We build features that encourage good-faith exchange and discourage harassment, humiliation, and mob behavior.
  • User-first ranking: we optimize discovery for usefulness and safety—not for maximizing time spent.

Non-Addictive by Design

Most social platforms optimize for attention: more clicks, more time, more refreshes. Samosa takes a different approach. Our goal is a calmer online experience where the product works for the user—not the other way around.

  • Quality over compulsion: we avoid dark patterns designed to keep you scrolling.
  • Relevance over virality: ranking should help you find what matters, not what triggers you.
  • User control: you should be able to tune what you see and step away easily.

We'll share more about these choices as the platform evolves, including how ranking works and what we measure—so the community can hold us accountable.

Safety & Moderation

A community only works if people feel safe to participate. We take a practical approach to safety: clear rules, easy reporting, consistent enforcement, and an appeals path when mistakes happen.

  • Clear boundaries: harassment, threats, doxxing, and exploitation aren't welcome here.
  • Reporting: users can report content and accounts directly from the app.
  • Review: we prioritize severe harm and act quickly where safety is at risk.
  • Appeals: we provide a way to request review if you believe an enforcement action was incorrect.

For details, see Community Standards and Safety & Moderation.

Our Principles

  • Human dignity: we don't build for humiliation, pile-ons, or harassment.
  • Community trust: rules apply consistently, including to popular accounts.
  • Quality over outrage: we discourage rage-farming and engagement traps.
  • Privacy by default: we aim to collect less and protect more.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a calmer social platform where people can share, learn, and connect without toxicity—and where communities can grow without losing their values.

Who Samosa Is For

Samosa is built for people who want a healthier online experience:

  • Thoughtful creators and educators
  • Community leaders and organizers
  • Families and groups that care about safety
  • Anyone tired of toxic engagement loops

If you're looking for a platform optimized for harassment, shock content, or constant conflict, Samosa won't be a good fit—and that's intentional.
